What If Elevators Didn’t Go Up And Down But To Different Timelines?

You step into an elevator. But, instead of the classic numbers on the buttons, the buttons say things like, ten years ago, your first crush, yesterday, tomorrow, the day you die etc. maybe one custom too.

What if, instead of being boxes carrying us up and down the floors of a building, elevators were portals carrying us to different timelines?

Maybe, you hit the year you were born and see yourself drinking milk as an infant or you chose to enter your life when you were 4-5 years old and see yourself holding a now forgotten toy that used to be your favourite. Or maybe you travel in the tomorrow. Maybe already knowing if you got the job you applied for today or the part in the play you auditioned for.

Which timeline would you pick? Maybe one in which you took the risk you were too afraid to take? Maybe the one in which you finally said something you were always afraid to say?

And yet, after this world, would you ever be able to ride an elevator normally again? Or will every ding serve as a reminder?

All scenarios described are fictional and purely imaginative.
